Proactive Department: Fuel Relay (2) retirement 850

I decided to replace the Fuel Pump Relay and the Main Fuel Relay, both original,
and working OK, BUT 21 years old and over 200K miles on the odometer.
Both of these relays get tired with old age, and when they quit, so does the car.

The fuel pump relay is Volvo # 9434225

Below are results from EBAY "Volvo 850 Fuel pump relay"
Select: "NEW", "price up to $27", and "Free Shipping"
This weeds out lots of junk especially used relays!
Beware of used fuel relays!
Curse any dealer that tests and sells used relays!

the KAE replacement is part 3.302.230 $26.65 shipped
This relay is in the main fuse block marked "103".
(Put the hood straight up to pull the cover with (4) T25 Torx screws.)

The Main Fuel Relay (shuts down the injectors) is Volvo # 3545803
KAE replacement is 2.102.110 $25.48 shipped
This relay is mounted above the radiator on the drivers side.
The plastic bracket slides up and off with a little tender persuasion
so you can pry the old relay off. I used a small screwdriver to pry the
stubborn connector apart.

It took longer to write this post than it did to swap both relays.

Happy motoring, Bill
