Timing belt S60 2003

When I bought a 2002 S40 with only 24k miles last fall I was very concerned about the TB. I removed part of the cover and found it to be in excellent shape so went right ahead and drove it home the 40 miles or so. While the mileage was incredibly low the age had me VERY concerned. My worries were somewhat relieved on reading the owners manual - scheduled TB change at 168 MONTHS!!! Of course I will change the belt soon but 14 years is quite a long time. I assume the original belt is not your average rubber piece needing changing at 5-7 year intervals. My advice--don't panic but do schedule the service at the earliest convenient time--and use Volvo parts. -- Dave
