Hazard Switch replacement/Stereo removal !!! V70-XC70 1998

Our 1998 V70's blinkers & hazards have been working/not working/working for the past 2 years. Following advice here, we pulled out the hazard switch and finagled it so that they worked 90% of the time. However, that time has ended as of today. I just ordered a FCP Hazard Switch to remedy the situation.

My question is: How to actually install it? Right now, because we pulled out the current one, it never really sat back into place properly...basically, it's loosed and sometimes pops out. We want to make sure the new one is installed properly so that it doesn't do this.

Do we need to removed the stereo?

And about removed the stereo - we actually need to do this because since our battery died a couple weeks ago, and we had the car jumped, we've had CODE on the stereo but the code Volvo provided isn't working so we have to pull it out to get the info off.

How do we do this?

Thank you and happy Memorial Day Weekend!
