exhaust flange gasket 850 1997

1997 850GLT

Wondering if there is suppose to be an exhaust flange gasket between the turbo & the downpipe.
I had recently removed the exhaust system to weld up some holes.
When removing the downpipe, noticed there was NO gasket between the turbo housing & the downpipe.
Dealer could not find a gasket listed, but FCP Euro lists one #1275549.
Noticed that there were signs of leakage (white streaks) between the joints.
Should there be a gasket ?
