S40 T5 Misfire No Codes S40-V40 2005

The first thing I would do is try a set of NGK BKR6ES (standard copper core) plugs for a total financial investment of about $10-12. Steer clear of all the pricey designer plugs.

If that doesn't work THEN I'd try the coil(s). If you have a self-serve wrecking yard near you it might be a better option to go grab a handful of Volvo OE coils for about $10 each rather than the Chinese stuff sold in the local parts houses. Don't worry about them being used. If you get a couple good ones out of say five, you're still money ahead. I'm still running the original coils in both of our FWD's. The 2.5T has 195,000 miles and the 2.4NA has about 235,000. OK, so I'm lucky, I'll admit. Sometimes I wonder if it isn't the goofy plugs people install that causes some of the coil failures.
