Hugh,

Did you have difficulties before the clutch was replaced? If not, check the brake fluid level in the slave master. Then get under the car and take a look at the slave and see if it is leaking.

Then check the end of the piston where it connects to the throw out arm and see if the bolt came loose. You can also visually check that the bolt is still in the same position (before the clutch work) by gauging the amount of rust before and after the rod connector.

To me, it sounds like the clutch does not disengage far enough. The syncros are quite robust.
