Question about shocks and struts and age

Since 1995 I have had my Bricks serviced by a dealer, 4 drivers, 4 740s, 3 850s, and 2 XC70s, about 750K miles. Most had at least 100K when we bought them and at least 200K when we sold them.

The dealer techs are not shy when it comes to suggesting needed repairs - I appreciate this because my wife and two daughters drove most of the mileage. Chris drove all over the US and Canada.

I tried the bounce test at lest twice a year on each car, and never observed bouncing or issues with tire wear,.

All had firm rides, especially our 855R.

I only had two instances when they called for new shocks, in each case they cited leaks as the reason.
