S40 fuel pressure S40-V40

First post on this forum. I see there is an old thread related to this, but no activity for a year, so I'll try a new one. My 2005 s40 t5 manual throws code p0089 from time to time. Seems to run ok. I replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor but the code came back a week later. My scanner shows FRP around 309kPa running at idle. I don't have a fuel pressure guage. Could the MAP sensor be faulty? Fuel pump problem? How to tell?
Also, can anyone tell me if the fuel pump on this car is only accessible by dropping the tank, as Haynes says, and you need to cut up the exhaust system to do that? That sounds really nasty. There is no access to the fuel pump under the back seat.

I'd be happy for advice.
