Small exhaust hole at the weld V70-XC70 2009

THE thing a welder wants to avoid is burning a hole through work upon strike-up.
This goes double for thin metal.

I'd go for a welded repair as the "weep hole" will only enlarge.
Seek out a good muffler shop where they MIG weld routinely and tell them your tale.

If confidence doesn't result I suggest cleaning the hole of soot with whatever gauge wire works and try J-B Weld. Use some kind of strap or hose clamp to support it.
