Brake Light V70-XC70 2004

I know this has been discussed in previous forums but after trying out a solution I'm still having issues and looking for some help.

I have a warning "Check Stop Lamp". The middle LED strip lights up but the side lamps do not. After talking with a friendly mechanic and checking out some posts on brickboard, I bought a new relay. The relay that was in my car was part #8651661. This matched what the friendly mechanic told me I needed. When I spoke with Volvo to order the new relay, they said that they were coming up with a different part number for that spot and that it didn't appear to just be a newer version of the same thing. I ended up buying the relay #8651661 because that's what I had in their already and that's what I was told I needed, but after changing relays out, the side brake lights still do not operate. Any ideas about next steps?
