I am surprised that the Nivomats failed so early. On my 1998 they lasted over 200K miles before one started to leak.

As to the boot twisting... It shouldn't have. Can you reach it and twist it back? It is just a dust cover.

Shame on you for using an air tool to tighten a bolt. That is a no no. Too easy to over torque, as the torque value is around 50-55lbs.
