SAS system S70

Depending on your state inspection rules, you can delete the SAS and remove the pump. I did just that in my 1998 V70. Volvospeed has a very lengthy write up that involves soldering two leads in the computer and disconnecting the pump.

Other 'fixes' include drilling two small holes in the pump housing to let water drain from the pump (typical cause of pump failure). Volkswagen used the same pump in their cars and is much cheaper than Volvo.
