Long ago, I called the Volvo 800 number and asked for a paper manual.
Sent to me free! Normal charge is around $25.

Of course, there is the online version:

As for changing the language to English from French, ask Volvo while you re on the 800 number. Let them know that the dealer wants $250 for the "service"
