I believe that review was purposely cynical. It is hard to tell, but his motive for making fun of the 850 may be selfish. He may be trying to dis the car to dissuade people from buying 850’s. Among the hipsters the 240 has now become a cult car. Maybe the same trend with the 850? I’ve heard people say the 850 is the new 240. Like the 240 it has a rep for lasting a long time.

Also, don’t overlook the 98 S70 and V70. It is essentially an 850 with an updated body and interior. Popular with the AWD folks. Maybe it is the real sleeper??
