It's enough to make the brain hurt. With all the common model names over platforms and generations it's impossible to do it cleanly.

Here's a try:
-850, S70, V70, V70XC C70 1993-2000-XC40
-S40/V40 (2000-2004)
-S40/V50/C30/C70 (2005+)
-S80 1st gen (1999-2006)
-S80/V70/V70XC (2008-2016)
-S60 2001-2009, V70/XC70 2001-2007
-XC60, V60, S60, S/V60XC (2010-2018)
-XC60 2nd gen (2019+)
-XC90 1st gen (2004-2014)
-XC90 2nd gen (2016+)
-S90/V90/V90XC

Less separation if you go by platform:
1. "P80" platform: 850, S70 and First gen V70, V70XC, and C70 models

2. Ford "C1" platform: Second gen. S40 and C70, along with the V50 and C30 are all similar

3. The 1st gen. S40 and the V40 belong on their own, they're odd ducks among the rest.

4. "P2" platform: 1st gen XC90, 2nd gen. V70XC/XC70, 2nd gen. V70, 1st gen S60, 1st gen. S80

5. "P3" platform: 2nd gen S80 and S60, 3rd gen V70 and XC70, 1st gen XC60, plus the S60XC, V60 and V60XC

6. The newest models are on the Volvo Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform.


I think it's important to force the user to precisely define their car but it's not always helpful to separate the forums down into each model. It's very important to know if the question is about a '98 V70XC or a 2016 XC90, but not necessarily important that those questions are asked in different forum spaces. This is especially true for those folks answering the questions, who may not want to bother with clicking through a dozen different forums. This is where your catch-all "ALL" tab is so nice.
