Hood release bypass/work-around? V70-XC70 2007

No, you cannot rely on the safety catch to keep the hood closed!

I would not remove the cable leading into the cabin, that buys you nothing but future headaches.

If you search the WWW you will find a few interesting methods for opening the hood from the front of the car, most involve wiring both latches separately and having the wire extend down for an easy, but not obvious reach.
