2nd Generation C70 Bluetooth Question C70 2009

After a drunk driver wasted my lovingly-rebuilt 1998 C70 hardtop, it was a few years before I bought a replacement. I ended up purchasing a 2009 C70 in the early days of the pandemic. Love the car, but its systems are complicated and there isn't a lot of repair/maintenance that I can do myself on this car.

My question relates to the bluetooth integration in the car. For a 2009 model year this car impressed me by being able to easily sync with my iPhone. I can make and receive calls easily while driving. This is great. My intermediate driver was a 2001 XC70 that required a hardware add-on to connect the phone to the stereo.

The issue is that while the car syncs to my phone, it's *only* for the phone. Later models have full integration, allowing the car to use the music player as an add-on to the stereo system. My 2009 model year can't do this, but I know that later models can.

Does anyone know if this is a matter of a car software upgrade, or a different model music system? Is this something that can be upgraded on this model year?

Presently I use the stereo's "AUX" plug, but with newer phone lacking a headphone jack, I have to use an adapter that prevents me from charging the phone. Overall, this is suboptimal.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
