Follow up 2,

An unintended consequence of this repair is that the Volvo Guard alarm system and keyless entry is disabled; presumably because of tampering with the ignition lock during the repair.

Can and will a dealer reprogram the alarm system?

I'm not going to purchase a new key and lock assembly since I'm OK with steering that doesn't lock anymore.
