dash rattles... V70-XC70 1998

ok, my v70 (about 225k miles) has developed a horrible squek/rattle in the dash. i believe the plastic studs holding the dash to the firewall have all finally broken. the entire dash is kind o f loose and squaks like a styrofoam cooler.
I plan to pull the cowl/wiper assy etc. and see what i can do but expect the studs are broken off. Has anyone been able to secure the dash with say anchor bolts or something else with access from the cowl area?
