Performance in the snow V70-XC70 2000

I drove in the snow almost the first time since I bought my V70XC about two years ago. Although I had a good set of snow tires, my car's tail spinned when I turned corners. The temperature was probably mid-20s, so the road was almost frozen though there was only 2 inches of snow on the ground. I wonder if I should call it a disappointing performance or the condition would have been pretty bad for all kinds of car.
