97 850 -- Feel the steering in my feet?!? 850 1997

I've had a '97 850 GLT for over a year now, and since shortly after I got it I've noticed an odd thing. When the car isn't moving but I'm steering the wheels (as in parallel parking and such), I can feel things moving through the floorboard under my left foot, and hear a faint rubbing noise at the same time.

I haven't really had a chance to get under there and see what's going on, but I'm starting to think I need to deal with it. My first thought is that some part of the subframe is loose and wiggling around.

Has anyone else encountered this one? Am I on the right track with the subframe idea? If so, is this a bolted component or does it have isolation bushings on it?

Thanks.
