AWD and adjustments V70-XC70 2000

gaupe,

I too, had shifting problems with my '98 V70 AWD. After several adjustments, a replaced driveshaft and viscous coupling, it was determined that the fluid needed to be replaced. The irony of it is, with this being my first Volvo, I had asked to have the tranny serviced soon after buying it (as a certified Volvo with 29,000 miles), and was virtually laughed at. I thought that it would be good maintenance to have this done since it was used and I have always done it with my American made cars. The dealers service rep and the mechanic smiled, and said, "you never open up a Volvo tranny unless there is a problem." Well, after all was said and done, Volvo made fluid changes an official "tech bulletin", because the fluid in "some" vehicles was thin or possibly mixed with anti-freeze/coolant by accident during assembly. So I would, most definately, request to have the tranny serviced with new fluid, as this was an immediate fix for a very annoying problem. Good luck.
