Q on turbo boost during cruise control operation

Just curious – on my 855T5A, when I’m on cruise at 110kmh, 2400rpm, and I hit a gentle/moderate incline, I’ve noticed that, unlike NA cars, the rpm does not even move, but in order to maintain 110kmh, boost increases.
Why is this so? Is it just part of the Volvo cruise control’s electronic operation, or this typical of all turbo cars when using cruise?
