Tranny flush & fill 850 1996

I´m just about to flush my tranny for the first time ever (70000km)
which I think will correct the hard shifting of my tranny.
I´ve been aware that there are two different methods doing this,
the official Volvo method and a second easier way by letting the
tranny pump out oil trough the inlethose of the cooler. My question
is. When doing it the easy way, will there be used oil trapped in
the cooler? Is it nessesary to plug the inletfitting on the cooler
while flushing, and why?

Jörgen
