As Ray mentioned you need a dianostic tool to re-set. This is true for model years '96'97 and '98 (yours). Earlier models were able to re-set by owner, after '98 Volvo returned the option of turning off the lamp by the owner. Little known fact, the lamp can be set to different mileage intervals, engine time or real time. The factory setting is the shortest mileage interval which I can't remember at this moment, I think it's five thousand miles.
