Antenna Length?

I have a '96 850 GLE. Since the FM reception was mediocre, I decided to check out the antenna. Unlike other Volvos I have seen, it only have two sections to it. It appears as though there is a third section in the middle, but it won't extend. I've tried WD-40, tried rotating it, tried pulling it with pliers all to no result. Also it does not look bent to a ruler, although rotating the whole antenna makes it easy to see the whole thing is tilted slightly... right from the base. Although this corrects when it is retracted!

Any help would be appreciated
