Gregory Bambo Jr, Are you out there? V70-XC70 1998

Thanks for all your input! This is a confusing topic because it's hard to tell if we're all talking about the same thing. The boot that blew out on my car is on the actual driveshaft downt he middle of the underbelly of the car....not the axles right next to the wheel. The driveshaft has 2 boots - one toward the front and one toward the back. I'm sure you can get boots for the axles by the wheels, but I am being told that the boots that are are on the middle of the shaft cannot be replaced without replacing the whole shaft and boot, hence the $799 part. I've been told by several people that you can't get the boot without the shaft. It seems crazy to me that Volvo would make you replace the whole shaft and boot, while on the axles you can replace just the boot.
