Known issue 850

My dealer tried blaming the two valve failures on engine oil, spark plugs and anything else that he thought I would fall for. However, I'm smarter than that and used Mobil 1 since the second oil change, so the service manager couldn't get out of Volvo's responsibility to cover the repairs. Most people would have fallen for his BS claims, which really frustrated him!

How the car was driven had nothing to do with the failures, since initially the misfires only happened intermittently during warmup, starting at about 30k miles. My wife and I both made use of the turbo whenever possible, so the engine got plenty of "exercise".

If engine valves had no problems, there wouldn't have been a service bulletin explaining that they needed to be replaced with "improved" valves.
