Air Conditioner Blower Motor Noise 850 1995

Even though I have a 1995 850 Turbo, I'm sure this problem is similar on many Volvo's. My blower motor is noisy. Not excessive yet, but I'm sure it will get progressively worse with time. Now I know the real answer is to replace the blower motor assembly, which is about $140 item. But has anyone had any experience with removing the motor and cleaning and lubricating the bearings? At least I assume the noise is the bearings. Since I have not had the blower assembly out, I don't know if this can be resolved with some WD-40 or something similar. I have spent most of my life maintaining IBM equipment and have had a lot of experience with bearings going dry. And if we caught them in time, just simple lubrication resolved the problem. But if you wait too long, then the bearings wear out, requiring replacement.

Has anyone out there had any experience with this?

Larry
