Tailgate struts and interior pannel problems 850

I did it. I bought a Volvo! A 1995 850 GTL wagon. It had some mechanical problems (timing belt, fan belt, brakes, ball joint, etc. . .) all of which my mechanic took care of. Now I'm a little light in the wallet but happy to have a smooth running Volvo machine. But I still need to fix the tailgate. I'm sick of getting smacked in the head. I suspect it has been this way for a while due to the fact that the plastic interior pannel appears to have broken loose on one side from repeated slambing of the tailgate on closing.

So. . . I need advice on (1) the best Volvo parts souces; (2) a step-by-step description of how to replace the tailgate lift struts; (3) advice on how to repair or replace to interior plastic pannel after I fix the tailgate lift struts.
