Diagnostic computer V70-XC70

And then we all wonder why there are more and more new cars, Volvos included get leased. If after the warranty expires you have to get to a service garage, dealer or otherwise, to find out what the lambda light is all about and to splash $40 for the information, you may as well lease another, brand new car and have it all covered.
What happened to all those garages that you could bring your car in and they would give you a free estimate on whatever was the problem?. I think that the OBD II was supposed to help in diagnosing the problems but instead turned into a cash cow for the dealerships and garages.
I remember the time, pre OBD II, when I showed up with a fuel injector problem and techs spent one hour just to find out what was wrong and to tell me that it would cost me $200 to fix it. Do you remember free job estimates? Now when the lambda light drags to a garage and a tech connects to your OBD II and 2 minutes later tells you that your injector needs replacement you need to pay $40 for the info. Doesn't it sound like a highway robbery?
Happy scanning :-)
