They have done already with the fuel cap.
If an underpaid gas station attendant without Volvo factory training doesn't follow Volvo approved procedures while closing the cap a $40 fine gets posted to your account (that's the lambda account).
I suspect that when the car manufactures get the cars connected to the Internet you will have to punch your VISA number before driving so all the lambda fines, $6000 fee for hood opening, and other minor fines would automatically be posted to you credit card account without wasting your and the dealer time.
