Updated: Inaccurate Fuel Gauge S40-V40 2001

For any who didn't see my previous post, my gas gauge is off by about 3.5-4 gallons. The gauge goes to full and empty, but the rate at which it descends is too fast such that when it registers 1/4 tank on the gauge, there's actually 1/2 tank of gas in there (when it registers 1/2, theres 3/4 and so on). The dealer replaced the sending unit in the tank, but it didn't fix it. It took it in again and they said all voltage measurements are within spec (measured at 7 different points). I asked about the software upgrade and they said that was the first placed they checked--it only addresses gauge problems where the gauge doesn't go all the way to full, but they loaded the software into mine anyway. Is there another software update they don't know about or something else to check? Thanks.
