Impressions of my first drive..855t 850 1995

Hello everyone,

I drove my first 850 Saturday, a turbo wagon. It's the one I've mentioned here that's for sale with 77k. It was a cold day and the first thing I have to say is the seat warmer was great! I had a nice toasty lower back and butt in no time. I was impressed with the car overall. The suspension was stiff but I liked it, it was fast (though not as quick as I expected) and VERY smooth running. I'm 6'1" and I found the driving position to be excellent! Love the telescoping wheel. The only thing I found to nit-pick about was that the brake pedal felt soft. The car stopped well but I expected a much firmer pedal. I've read here about master cylinder problems and hope it's not the case.

I have a couple of calls to make about the maintenance history of this one-owner local car and if satisfied, will have it inspected and begin to work on the seller's asking price.

I'm comfortable handling all the maintenance myself but am curious about the life expectancy of the CV joints. The few Volvo parts websites I've visited don't list 850 turbo model axles or joints and I'd like to get an idea about what to expect for parts cost.

BTW, where's the switch for the door locks?

Impressed,
Erwin
