Re: HELP- key will not turn in ignition lock S70 1998

I have 37,000 miles on my car and a couple of weeks ago my car won't start because the key would not go from position II to III. I started using a newer key and that seemed to work for a while. Then yesterday, it happened again and I was stranded on the road because the car won't start again (the key does not go to position III)! Now the car is at the dealer's workshop yet again!

I have 2 questions:

1. My car's warranty expired in August 2001. What are the chances I can "convince" VOLVO to cover the expense of repairing this...I've had several problems (over 28+ trips to the dealer) in the last 4+ years for various repairs.

2. What will it cost to get the lock cylinder repaired now?

I used to love Volvos before I owned one! I'll NEVER buy another one EVER again!

Thanks!
