Cannot clear codes; why? 850 1994

Hi,

Model is 1994 855T. Over the weekend it threw codes 443, 435, and 232. I found that one of the ports on the vacuum tee was sitting wide open with no cap, so I put a cap on it and tried to clear codes per instructions in Haynes and Alldata (after reading codes, ignition off/on, hold button on A for 5 sec, wait for LED on, hold for 5 sec, LED should go off) but the codes wouldn't clear. I had a devil of a time actually getting the first 5 sec delay to actually "take"; often the LED wouldn't do anything. Then, when I would get it to "take", instead of the LED going off the second time, it would just flash at a constant rate.

What gives? Anybody know? Alldata provides more info than Haynes, but less than the volvo service manual would, I expect. Anybody have one handy?

Thanks!
-cj
