SRS Light Questions S70 1998

My 1998 S70 T5 SRS light came on a few days ago. I borrowed an OBD-II tester (Actron CP9035) and there were NO computer codes. Using the tester, I attempted to clear the SRS light to no avail (obviously since there were no codes in the first place).

So, if it's not a computer code, do I ass-u-me that it is some kind of SRS hardware failure? How would I track down the problem? Would disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes (or so) help? I'm not sure where to start here. Thanks. Jim B.

P.S. Would the "real" Volvo service manuals help here?
