Disabling daytime running lights in Canada S70 1998

"Since we're prevented from doing this in Canada because of some "law", the Canadian switches are configured so the daytime feature cannot be disabled."

You are entirely INCORRECT! There is no such law regarding daytime running lights or DRL's. The federal law states that ALL new cars ever since a couple years ago, MUST come equipped with DRL's from factory. But there are no laws regarding the actual use, or lack of use, of said DRL's. Thus there is no law against disabling them, or running your car without DRL's in Canada.

I myself have disabled mine for some time now. I made sure to disable mine before I installed my Philips Xenon HID lights.
