replacement dash with less miles will VST know ?? 850 1997

I found a 1996 dash with boost gauge and trip comp. at my local junk yard but the problem is that it shows 7000 miles less :( . I know that I could remove the trip comp. and reuse it with out a problem and also the bulbs . I would love to have a boost gauge in the dash and not a pod by the dash.

My problem is I would hate to have the car servest and the VST show that the car has less miles . Will this happen ? Are all VST the same volvo,chevy,& independent....
