new Volvo owner 850 1997

I recently purchased a '97 850, 5 spd - love the car. One thing I noticed while shopping for this vehicle was that a lot of the older Volvo's have much less rust than with other cars of similar age. Here in upstate NY roads are often salted in the winter so usually when cars approach 7-8 years old, you can see signs of rust. This is really not the case w/ Volvo's - can anybody explain this?

One other thing, when it is real cold my power antenna has a hard time extracting. Is there a lube that I can use to fix this?

Thanks,
Paul
