850 Engine Residue in Crankcase 850 1993

Hi,
I have an 850 GLT with 130,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil regularly at 3000 miles. I have done all other recommended maintenance. Recently the oil dipstick has been showing a rust colored residue above the oil level. There is also a red/rust colored glaze on the non moving surfaces I can see through the oil filler. I have used Castrol 10/30 from day one. The dealer tells me not to worry, this is "normal" from condensation (I live in soggy Washington Sate so believe anything about the effects of moisture). However, I have an '86 Jeep Cherokee with 225,000 miles on the original engine and no "normal" discoloration from condensation in it and none in a Mercedes with 150,000 miles on it. We did discover a leaking hose on the flame trap and repaired that and replaced the trap today. Could that have been it? This just became noticable lately. In fact for the first 100,000 the engine looked perfectly clean so I have a hard time believing something "normal" is causing this. Any help is appreciated.
