2001 V70 XC Stalled and Had To Be Towed V70-XC70 2001

Yesterday my wife was driving around town in our 2001 XC when it stalled at an intersection. She called me while trying to get it started and it finally started but with a significant lack of power. She pulled it into the adjacent parking lot and it stalled again. She was able to start it up after several tries, again with a lack of power. She pulled it into a parking space. I got a ride to meet her. I tried to start it and it would start up and immediately stall. I tried 10 or so times with the same result. We called Volvo on Call and they arranged for a tow. The dealer will look at it first thing tomorrow morning. Anybody heard of this happening? What is the problem?
