Noisy lifter 850 1994

Hi Erwin,

I have a 94 uk model which is a 2litre 20value to start with. I have used the European version of Mobil 1 since almost new 0w/40 and use a flush every other oil change which is normally 6k to 12k depending on driving style (short stop and starts or long distances).

Anyway i suffer this problem when i first start my baby up in the morning. I normally allow her to warm up abit before driving off the driveway. She makes a horrid sound of ticking, not the injecters the lifters! Yes the oil is extreamly thin so it does contribute in the beginning noise IMHO.

At one time I was concerned about this so left my baby with the dealer overnight for them to check it out. When picking her up they said indeed it was the lifters, i had originally booked her in to have this fixed aswell. They said do you realise whats involved replacing all the lifters etc, a job over £1200 pounds i guess $2000. They said if it doesn't really bother you i would live with it, so i do, but one day i will have them done when she is a bit older.

Just my two 2cents.

Mark in the uk.
