Noisy lifter 850 1995

Sounds like you did read the resolution here if you know about the oil pan o-rings? That's where I suggest you start as it's far easier, less expensive than it is to R&R the upper cam cover.
I've heard about shops (indy's) that didn't know about the o-rings R&R (replace) both cams and all lifters only to still have the same lifter noise so I wouldn't start there.
On your car, besides the sump o-ring there's two more between the filter housing (on top of the pan) as well.
I have yet to replace one bad hydraulic lifter or cam on any Volvo "white engine" and those engines have been out since '92 in the US.
