Gas LEak S80

I dont have many details yet, but my father's '99 S80T6 has developed a gas leak. Some part of the power steering mechanism has been rubbing against a fuel line since the car was delivered (according to the dealer). Over time, a hole has developed in the fuel line, spraying fuel in the engine compartment. Luckily, someone noticed the fuel leaking on the ground and my father stopped driving the car. Has anyone heard of this?

This car has been pretty unreliable since the day it was purchased, but this type of problem raises my disappointment with Volvo to a whole new level.

Thanks for any input. I just want to make sure this isnt a design flaw and is a freak accident.
