Near Panic with oil leak 850 1997

Well it looks like the honeymoon is over. I was so happy & now, well...
I was concerned about oil consumption originally & had the oil changed. Before there were no signs of a leak, especially when I bought it on Sept 1st. Dip stick was at half way mark and never below the add mark. After the change, lower parts were covered on transaxle side. Upper parts are dry, like at the camshaft ends. It was put on a lift, oil cleaned off, & then run for a while. It looks like it's coming out of a seam between the engine & the transaxle at the bottom.
Does this sound right? Has anyone had, or dealt with this? Would it just be to separate the transaxle & then reseal? What should I tell the dealer that sold it? They've already gotten complaints from me about other issues, [tires & brakes, & battery,] and have been less than stunning, with their customer service. Don't want to get it fixed there. ...this is so awful.
