First of all, why are you running 0w-30? That viscosity is WAY too low for normal operation, UNLESS you are running in an area with an average temperature of -20 degrees Celcius every day. Hell, AMSOIL's 5w-30 is good for even -30.
Secondly, you have to compare apples to apples. You can't compare the price of one manufacturers 0w-30 to another's 10w-30. Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 0w-30 runs for about $6 per quart at discount online ordering places, so be sure to add shipping charges. And Walmart doesn't even carry 0w-30. When I checked around, Mobil 1's 0w-30 comes in around $6.50 per quart ($6.49 to be exact). And I know for a fact that AMSOIL's 0w-30 can be found for cheaper, locally, which means, no shipping charges. So if you want to compare quart bottle to quart bottle of 0w-30 between Mobil 1 and AMSOIL, if anything, you've got it backwards.
As for comparing 10w-30 prices, AMSOIL's 10w-30 can be found for as cheap as $4.00 locally per quart, and when purchasing in jugs, it drops to about $3.50-3.75 per quart. Yes, that's still a bit more then the Mobil 1, but not by much. The difference works out to about a quarter or less per quart.
Hey, as long as you people are willing to pay AMSOIL's regular prices and not bother looking for deals, go ahead and keep telling yourselves it's not worth it, even though it only works out to about $3-5 more per oil change in the worst case scenario. But spend about an hour one day, call up some local independent auto supply stores, and I'm sure you'll be able to find SOMEONE within 30 minutes driving distance, that can, and will sell AMSOIL at prices identical to Mobil 1, give or take $0.25 per quart.
