Hi,

I've found that the Goodyear or Firestone type shops can be expensive for the qualilty of service they provide. Also, IMHO, they handle too wide an assortment of vehicles so really specialize in none. If you're looking for an alternative to your local dealership try and find an independent Volvo repair shop. I'll say that if you're not hearing any noises indicating failure and wanting just the boot replaced, you'll have to insist. Most every shop will try and sell you a new or rebuilt joint or axle as they're "going to be in there already".

Good information in this thread, I was wondering about the cost of joints for a turbo model.
