2001 S80 questions S80 2001

Hello all. My first Volvo and my first post to the Brickboard. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

A couple of questions related to a 2001 S80.....

1. Do you think it is essential to change the cabin air filter every 15K miles and the brake fluid every 30K miles as the owner's manual suggests? Or is this just basically a way for the dealer to make more money....

2. There seems to be a rather pronounced valve tap (ticking noise) on my engine that is quite noticeable at idle. Since this is my first Volvo, I don't know if this is pretty much normal for a Volvo engine or something I should be concerned about. Any comments?

3. Do you know of a good internet site to order Volvo parts at discounted prices? I need to do the 30K mile service soon and need oil filter, air filter, plugs, and (maybe) the cabin air filter.
