Thinking about a '94-95 850 Turbo...for fun... 850

I would agree with Mrsha.

I have a 94 855 Turbo, love it. Bought it at 89k last year, running strong at 93k now.

Things to check on:

1. Has it had the timing belt replaced at 70k, 140k, ... ? If not, don't even think about it.

2. The problems with these cars AC has to do with the evaporator, a costly item to fix. Has it ever been fixed, or recharged? Most seem to just recharge every summer. You can buy a recharge kit at Walmart or Costco for short $ and do it yourself.

3. Has it had any kind of regularly scheduled ATF flush? Most agree it is an essential maintenance point for these cars. Again, a DIY project.

I know that I haven't owned the car for long, and many would say I am not qualified to give such detailed opinions, but I bought the car from a friend and have actually helped him with maintenance since he bought it 3 years ago.

The things I have done to the car include oil/filter changes, ATF flushes, replaced brake pads and rotors on all 4 wheels, Turbo oil return seal replacement, coolant flush, T-stat replacement (need to do it again soon), upper engine mount bushing replacement, and rear hatch interior panel fix. Every single one of these things was fairly easy for me, only takes time and patience. Estimate I have saved well over $4k in labor costs for all of this work.

So, if you like to work on cars, I would buy it. I love how fast it is, especially how much of a sleeper it is. Nothing like beating a ricer with a coffee can on his tail pipe with my Volvo Station Wagon! I love the looks I get!

Good luck.
